FINALS
U19 Junior Women 4x - Alyx, Isabella, Stephanie and Katie
3 girls in their first year of U19 and representing Don's in the Junior Women's 4x is already a big achievment. Stephanie just learned rowing thru the spring and fought her place in this boat ... all good to be in this final (thru heats and semis). Alyx and Isabella still in racing mood after their final yesterday and Katie in her first (and last) Junior final appearance wanted to pull out the best they have.
Our girls started well and the pack runs thru the 500m mark ... the long week of races and the heat bits in the muscles of our girls and they have to let go the field. Following always in touch, but still a little bit behind the race develops to the finishing line. A nice clean row for our girls, nothing wrong ... approaching to the finish line ... and honorable 6th place in their eyes .. but the misfortune of one of their opponents - an oarlocks broke - brought our girls up to 5th place ... good job and thanks for the vision you shared with us coaches. Thanks to Celena, who lead the Junior A crew thru the season and ended with remarkable results
Final position: 5th
Senior Men light 4x - Dan, Lorne, Tom and Steve
Dan ... our young gun. He wants to win. Dan who learned to train, Dan who learned to row is finally in a competitive race. Tom and Steve our solid members of Don when it comes down to expierence and Lorne ... from Brock and slowly developing to a rower are filling the spots around Dan. And it is Dan with his serbian fire within which is pushing his crew. Ottawa leading at the 1000m mark infront of 4 hungry rats which want to bit the tail and Dan in between. Rough water conditions today, no Credit for our river rowers, and also Dan has to pay the price ... after 1500m Dan's forearms are burning by holding the skulls to hard, squuzing the gribs like:

Still in tight touchs with the other teams but still a little bit to far from winning ... Final position: 5th
Senior Women 4x - Elene, Claire, Christina and Laura
The third final for Claire and Elene, together with their partners Laura and Christina the girls try to reach for Gold in the women 4x. Three boats seperating quickly from the fiels and running down the big highway of waves. Hard work, stroke by stroke, breathing and the feeling that none of the girls will give up. Passing 1000m, passing 1500m - all three crews together and then ... finally third. Our girls with a good race, a little bit of disapointment but a big heart for rowing. Thanks
Final position: 3th
U23 Women 4- - Alex, Elise, Kalyna and Lindsay
This crew came late together in the season ... they meade their way thru the heats and now in rainy and wavey conditions in the starting gate ... scared ... they started but they never really got into the race, the conditions becoming more tricky and our girls still to inexpierenced bumbing down the course ... bouncing from one side to the other ... fighting to keep in touch but finally sixth. Lesson learned - coaches and rowers have to look differntly for this kind of race in the next season.
Final position: 6th
Senior Women light 4x - Lauren, Jenn, Kate and Laura
Our last race and the chance for Jenn and Laura to win the third Gold medal - what a burden. Riverside and Leander are their opponents and they are fast. Our girls in second position at the 1100m mark and now ready to make their move ... a big grab, another and our girls find themself behind Leander. They rebel up ... the raise the stroke rate and they try to come back ... but to late. A fantastic week for all four ... the coaches team says thank you for your amazing performance, the final position: 4th
... to all coaches, helper and supporter
THANK YOU to Ed, THANK YOU to Celena and THANK YOU to all who help and supported our team at HENLEY 2010
