Recreational Rowing Information

Rowing just for the fun of it, or with maybe only a hint of competition, is being discovered by more and more people.

Our recreational program keeps growing and growing. To join this program you must be at least 16 years old and have prior rowing experience, or have passed the "Learn to Row" program at Dons or another club. Recreational rowers meet four times each week. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 9:00 a.m. Crews are set on a casual basis, in any combination that will work in eights, fours, doubles and singles.Workout sessions are all year around.

Besides rowing on our lovely Credit River the Don Rowing Club offers a variaty of touring rowing around Canada, as day trips or even as a weekend trip. Explore Canada with your boat and a uniquer view from a river or lake.

Rowing in winter time means indoor sport. The DRC is proud to offer a special membership with the UTM sport facility to keep you in shape. Special courses just for our members will be offered.

A membership at the DRC opens every door to every rowing club in Canada and world wide. Ask our coaches or other members for advice.

Recreational members also have the opportunity to attend two or three regattas during the year. Some of the events our members have competed include our own Tops and Bottoms Regatta, Hogtown Heats, and several head races such as Head of the Trent and Head of the Thames. Annual Fee (April 1 2011) $550.00+HST and requirement to complete 2 volunteer bingo.
