U23 & Senior Competitive Rowing

The U23 & Senior Competitive Rowing program is geared toward rowers (aged 19 and older) who have finished a Learn-to-Row or have previous rowing experience. This program runs year round and is geared towards competitive athletes. This program requires a large commitment to training, and rowers are expected to attend a minimum four training sessions per week. The prgram is divided into three levels:

  • Level 1 - trains 4x/week, this group introduces athletes to the competitive side of rowing, with emphasis on skill development.
  • Level 2 - trains 6-8x/week, after completing a minimum of one season in Level 1 an athlete may progress to Level 2, this group compunds on skills developed and introduces higher training volume and commitment.
  • Level 3 - trains 8-12x/week, only athletes with Coach approval may train in the Level 3 group, this group is geared towards athletes that want to take their competitive rowing to the next level - and perhaps one day represent Canada at a world rowing event!

During the Spring, Summer and Fall months (typically start of April to end of October) training will be outside when weather permits. During the Winter months (November to end of March) training will be inside at the rowing club.

Ready to Register:

Before you register, remember that rowing is a water sport so you must be able to swim. All participants must hold a 'Swim To Survive' certificate or equivalent (roll into deep water, tread water for 1minute, swim 50 metres). You do not have to produce the certificate. However, when registering with Rowing Canada you will be signing a waiver declaring that you are capable of swimming and treading water. If you are not a strong swimmer and are unsure of your swimming ability, we recommend that you schedule a test at a local Mississauga swimming pool.

There are two steps to registering at the Don Rowing Club:
